Nathan Knyazev received his primary education in Tblisi (Republic of Georgia). He studied Composition with Rheinberger at the Music Academy in Munich. In 1896 he settled in Bulgaria. He lived in Varna first, and then moved in Sofia. He taught at the music high school in Plovdiv. He conducted the Bulgarian Opera Society, as well as non-professional ensembles.

He composed stage music and vocal opuses. He is author of two operas; about 100 Russian choral songs; solo songs, etc.
