Dimitar Konstantzaliev graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv in 1988. He studied Composition with Professor Ivan Spassov and Choral Conducting with Associate Professor Nikola Lipov. Konstantzaliev also studied Composition under Professor Pencho Stoyanov at the State Music Academy in Sofia in 1994. He worked as a pianist and a conductor of the Slavyansko Edinstvo Choir – Gorna Oryahovitza (1983-1985) as well as a chief artistic director of the Female Chamber Choir – Asenovgrad (1986-1988). He has taught Music at different schools (1988-1999). In 1992 the composer founded Talasamche Children’s Vocal-Theatrical Group and after that Vocal Groups Instinct and No Way (2000). He is currently working as an Artistic Director of the above mentioned groups. He wrote symphony, chamber, choral and vocal music. He was awarded an Encouragement at the International Composition Competition named after Professor Ivan Spassov (1998, 2001), as well as First Prize in a Hymn Competition in General Toshevo (2005). A great deal of his creative work is dedicated to children’s music. Konstantzaliev composed 9 musicals and more than 450 children’s songs. Some of them are prize winners in prestigious national and international festivals and competitions, such as Verdinote – Italy (best competition 1998, 1999), Trakiiska Lira – Stara Zagora, Bulgaria (2nd and 3rd Prize in 2001, 2002), Golden Rooster – Gabrovo, Bulgaria (Special Award of the Union of Bulgarian Composers). Recordings of Dimitar Kostantzaliev’s symphonic, chamber and children’s music have been made by the Bulgarian National Radio. He also recorded music on cassettes and CDs.
