Mara Petrova graduated from the State Academy of Music majoring in Composition under Professor Vesselin Stoyanov and Piano under Professor Pancho Vladigerov. She specialised in Choral Conducting with Professor Marin Goleminov. She taught at the Institute for Music and Choreographic Specialists. She wrote articles. She edited song collections. She composed in a variety of genres. Her works were performed in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Poland, Russia and Switzerland and won prizes.
