Yuli Damyanov graduated from the “Pancho Vladigerov” National Academy of Arts with the majors of choral conducting under Prof. Lilia Guleva and orchestral conducting under Prof. Konstantin Iliev (1986). Immediately after graduation, he started working as a conductor at the “Stefan Makedonski” Musical Theater, and from September 2008 to September 2010 he was the chief conductor. In parallel, he also works as a permanent guest conductor of the Varna Opera, conducts performances of the DMT – Veliko Tarnovo, the Burgas and Plovdiv operas, etc.
Yuli Damyanov’s creative biography includes more than 100 performances and concerts during the tours of the Musical Theater in Japan and Western Europe. Some of the most memorable productions under his baton are: “Gypsy Baron”, “The Bat”, “Countess Maritza”, “The Merry Widow”, “Frasquita”, “Ball in Savoy”, “The Queen of the Chardash”, “The Beautiful Elena”, “The Land of Smiles”, “The Great Unknown”, “The Duchess of Chicago”, “Victoria and Her Hussar”, “Cabaret”, “Sugar”, “Butterfly Cage”, “Vienna Blood”, “The King and the Carpenter”, “Thank You Charles”, “The Four Twins”, “Casanova”, “American Weekend” and others. His repertoire includes all the titles played on the stage of the theater in the last 20 years.
He is a teacher of “opera singing with a conductor” at the State Music Academy. Winner of the “Crystal Lyre” award for 2003. of the Union of Music and Dance Actors in Bulgaria. As a composer, he won 2 awards from the National Competition with “Music in 7/8” in Plovdiv: 2003 – bronze for ballet music and 2004 – silver for orchestra and percussion.
Yuli Damyanov is engaged in composition, he is the author of “Missa catholica bulgarica”, the musical “Fisherman’s Quarrels” by Carlo Goldoni, the children’s opera – fairy tale “Dramatic events with comic images” (“Klan – nedoklan”), of many symphonic works (“Flower ”,”Blues 13” etc.) and vocal (“One Star”, “Male Romance” etc.) works.
