Prof. DSc Maria Ganeva was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She graduated from the State Academy of Music ”Prof. P. Vladigerov” majoring in Piano under Professor Konstantin Ganev and Professor Julia Ganeva (1976) and Master Class (1978). She specialised in piano under Professor Helen Bosky – France and Professor Dieter Zehlin – Germany. Since 2010 she is a Head of Pop and Jazz art Department of the State Academy of Music in Sofia. Maria Ganeva gives concerts in Bulgaria, Louxembourg, Esh Alzet, Mersh, Moscow, Peterbourg, Talin, Rudolstadt, Aisenach, Noorus, Wien, Bad Radgersbourg and others. She is among the leading Bulgarian pop music composers. Over 400 pop songs of hers were released on many LP, audiocassettes, CD and DVD. They were performed by the most prominent Bulgarian pop and jazz singers, rock groups and children formations like Lili Ivanova, Silvia Katzarova, Nelly Rangelova, Margarita Hranova, Toni Dimitrova, Kristina Dimitrova, Orlin Goranov, Veneta Rangelova, Argirovi Brothers, Georgi Hristov, Vasil Naidenov, Veselin Marinov, rock group ”Shturcite” (”The Crickets”), Mimi Ivanova, Rumiana Kotzeva, ”Tonika”, ”Domino”, Vanya Kostova, etc.

Her songs were published in Bulgaria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Russia, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Canada and other countries; the Bulgarian Radio and Television broadcast hundreds of recordings.
Maria Ganeva received prizes at a number of festivals and competitions:
Special prize for song of International music festival in Istanbul-Turciye (1976);
Second prize of International festival for pop songs ”The Golden Orpheus”'(1978);
Third prize of International festival for pop songs ”The Golden Orpheus” (1979);
Second prize and the prize of the audience of the festival ”The Burgas and the sea” of International festival for pop songs ”The Golden Orpheus”'(1985);
Grand prix ”Golden statue” of International festival for pop songs ”The Golden Orpheus” (1986);
Many times a prize winner for creation of Union of Bulgarian composers. Maria Ganeva is invited like a member of jury and is a guest of series of festivals for pop music at our place and abroad.
She is the author of a piano sonata; chamber pieces for piano; children’s songs, etc. She also wrote textbooks.
