Prof. Dr. Borislava Taneva graduated from NMU – Sofia with a gold medal and continued her education at the National Academy of Music “prof. Pancho Vladigerov” – Sofia majoring in piano – with Prof. Julia and Konstantin Ganevi and composition with Prof. Parashkev Hadjiev. Since 1989, he has been working at the National Academy of Music – first as a part-time assistant, and since 1995 – as a piano teacher. He is currently a Professor of Piano and Pedagogical Practice in the Piano Department at the IF of SMA.
In the period 1990-1993 he taught piano at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki – Greece.
Prof. Dr. Borislava Taneva has given concerts in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Israel, France, Macedonia, etc.
She was a soloist with orchestras in Bulgaria, the Thessaloniki Philharmonic, “Orchestra ton chromatin” – Athens, The Ashdod chamber orchestra – Israel, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Radio of Ukraine, Wallisellen Orchester – Switzerland.
Participates in various chamber formations.
There are records for BNR, BNT, as well as for the Greek ERT-3. She is a laureate of the contests Sinegallia-1983, “St. Obretenov”-1988.
In 1999/2000, she won a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and specialized in contemporary music with Prof. Cherie Broome in Milan, where she gave a number of concerts.
From 2000 to 2003, she led a class on contemporary music interpretation in Athens.
She cooperates with conservatories in Athens, Geneva, Thessaloniki, Larissa, where she leads master classes and gives music seminars on various topics: “Initial pedagogy”, “Problems in interpreting the piano concerto”; “Interpretation of contemporary works”, “Peculiarities in the performance of Bulgarian music” and others.
She has participated in many festivals, including: “Sofia Music Weeks”, “European Music Festival”, “New Year’s Music Festival”, “March Music Days”, “Musicexchange”, “Sound and Connection”, “ppIANISSIMO” – festival for contemporary piano music – Sofia; Balkan Forum “Seres”, Music Festival “Kefalonia”, Music Festival in Delphi – Greece, Chamber Music Festival in Tortoreto, Music Festival “San Benedetto” – Italy, International Festival “Craiova muzicala” – Romania and many others.

She has played in the prestigious halls of “Palau de la Musica” – Barcelona, “Auditorio National de Musica” – Madrid, Brandenburg Theater, “Megaro musikis” in Thessaloniki and Athens.

For the first time in Bulgaria, Prof. Dr. Borislava Taneva realized in 9 concerts an integral performance of the piano sonatas of Joseph Haydn. In 1998, she participated in the Second International Meeting of Women Composers in Athens (Greece), she was included in the released CD with the works of the participants. Since 1995, she has been actively collaborating with the children’s vocal group “Bon-Bon”.
