Assoc. Dr. Stefka Venkova is a musicologist in the “Music” sector of the Institute for Arts Research at the BAS. She is the author of two monographs: “The Music of the Eastern Rite Catholic Church in Bulgaria” (2010) and “Apostol Nikolaev-Strumski: Life Inspired by Music” (2016) and of over 40 studies and articles on issues of Bulgarian church music in Twentieth century, related to Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic music, East-West interactions, church composers, music archives and musical institutions, published in our country and abroad.

She is the secretary of the “Musicologists” section of the Union of Bulgarian Composers since 2014. She is a member of the Bulgarian section of the International Musicological Society, the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria and the Association of Byzantine and Medievalists in Bulgaria. She was awarded the “Book of the Year” 2011 and 2017 awards of the Union of Composers in Bulgaria in the competition for musicological creativity and the Nomination for High Scientific Achievements 2017 and the Award – diploma for high scientific achievements 2011 of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria. Stefka Venkova is a choir conductor at the Catholic Apostolic Exarchy in Sofia.
